Barbecued Spare Ribs

Makes 12 Servings

Ingredients

2 pounds pork spareribs
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce or no-sugar-added catsup
1 cup apple juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
1 packet Sweet ‘N Low

Directions

In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, apple juice, honey, soy sauce and Sweet’n Low. Set aside in the fridge.

Prepare ribs by removing the membrane from the underside of the ribs. Trim off fat. Prepare grill. You will want to hold a temperature around 225 degrees F for 4 to 6 hours so plan accordingly.

Season ribs with salt and pepper and place on grill. Cook until the internal temperature of the meat reaches about 175 degrees F. (4-6 hours). Brush ribs with the prepared barbecue sauce. After about 10 minutes turn the ribs over and brush barbecue sauce on the other side. Continue doing this until the ribs are richly coated in sauce and tender.

Take ribs off the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes before cutting into portions.
